Week 44 - Proper Authority to Baptize!

Hola Everyone,

It’s another week as usual here in Mexico.  Since today is P-Day we just got done with an entire Zone activity, which was pretty fun! We played in these bubble ball things. Kind of like a Zorb Ball or Bumper Ball and you can run into each other. Everyone here thinks I’m the strongest person ever, just because I didn’t fall down at all. But my body hurts after playing!

So, this week has been an interesting week again. I know I’ve told you guys that this area is extremely hard and I’m probably going to keep saying that until I leave because it is really hard! We are working hard and contacting people right now, but we don’t really have many people progressing at this moment. I feel bad for my Companion because he’s young and hasn’t experienced a lot of success yet in the mission because this is a really hard area.

We do have one investigator that is starting to progress, we watched the Joseph Smith story with him and he really enjoyed it. We sat down and talked with him and my Companion brought up baptism and at first, he said no. He didn’t understand why he would want to get baptized by us when he could get baptized by anyone. So, I had to explain the just like Jesus being baptized by John the Baptist who had authority, he too needs to be baptized by someone who had the authority to do so and baptized by immersion. We asked him again and he agreed, so he has a date to be baptized on the 29th. So that is super awesome and we are really looking forward to it.

Basically, the highlight of the week was we had our last interviews with President Kimball. My Companion and I were the last ones to interview. He shared a lesson and talked a lot about missionaries that go home and become in-actives. He gave us a picture of Jesus washing the Disciples feet because I don’t know if you remember, but when I did my first interview with him, he shined our shoes. So, it’s like the picture. It’s one of President’s favorites.  It’s a nice canvas picture and I’m going to have President and Sister Kimball sign it. He also gave us a temple recommend holder that has the Mexico City Temple and their names on the inside.  Those are usually the things they give missionaries when they go home but because he is leaving at the end of the month, he gave it to all of us during our interviews

Well, that was my week. Hope you all are doing well. I love being a missionary and I love the people of Mexico.

Love,

Elder Fawcett
